Blackboard Vista Tools
Bb Vista comes with a wide array of features for administering online courses as well as a supplement to face to face classes. Below is a brief description of each tool.
- Announcements - Create messages that will be displayed to course.
- Assessments - Create and complete quizzes and view the results.
- Assignments - Create and post assignments for your students. Your students can submit their assignments through Vista for review.
- Calendar - Post and review calendar entries as well as create a printable view of your calendar.
- Chat - Real time online discussions.
- Discussions - Message boards for your course. Topics can be organized and moderated to reflect course content.
- Files and Folders - Add files for your students to access. Organize files and tools into folders.
- Goals - Document and post your intended goals for your course and organize them into categories.
- Grade Book - Allows you to post scores so each student only sees their grade.
- Group Manager - Create groups of students for assignments, projects, etc. Groups can also be used to selectively release content to only those students (see Selective Release).
- Learning Modules - Collections of related content that is organized sequentially.
- Mail - Internal mail system to send messages to students and instructors associated with the course.
- Media Libraries - Collections of media files that can be linked from other pages within your course.
- Roster - View the Instructor and Student profiles associated with your course.
- SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) - Packages that are created outside of Vista then imported into Vista for use in your course. Once SCORM content packages are imported, they can be accessed by creating a SCORM module.
- Search - Search for and locate course content using keywords.
- Selective Release - Create criteria based on date, username, etc. to control whether they're visible to your students.
- Syllabus - Upload a syllabus you have created offline or create a new syllabus using Vista's online creation tool.
- Web Links - Include links to relevant content from the World Wide Web in your course content, giving you the ability to guide your students to valuable resources outside the Vista environment.
- Who's Online - See who is currently logged into Vista, make yourself visible or invisible to other students and instructors, and send chat invitations to listed users.
