Accessing a Section for the First Time
The first time you access a section, you will be be presented with certain options that only appear that first time.
- Log in to eLearning.
- Click the link to the section.
- You will see an Assign Course Content screen.
The most commonly used options are
Set up a blank course and
Copy content from another course options.

- Set up a blank course - This option will give you a completely empty section.
- Copy content from another course - This option allows you to choose to copy content from an existing section to this one.
- Assign a template to this course - This option is the last step of the Associating a Template to a Section process.
- Import content from file - This option can be used if you have an exported course file. It is unlikely this option applies to anyone at IPFW.
- After choosing an option, you will see a Quick Start screen. The Quick Start screen allows you to choose the tools you will be using in this course. Only the items you select will appear in your Course Tools menu. Tools can always be added or removed from this menu at a later date. Click Save after choosing the tools you want.
- You will be taken in to your section. There will be a screen of information regarding the Course Tools and Designer Tools which are menus on the left side of the screen. When you no longer need this information, you can check the Do not show me this page again box. Otherwise, click Done.
- Finally, on the course home page, you will see information regarding the Add Files, Create Folder and Add Content Link buttons. This information will disappear after you add a file, folder or link to your home page.
