Creating a Section for Course Prep
Use these instructions to create a section for you to use to build course content for future semesters. Since real sections may not exist in eLearning when you are ready to begin building the content, you will need to create a section to work in first.
- Log in to eLearning.
- Click the Administration tab.
- Browse to your Course Development area by navigating through organizational structure on the left. Click IPFW Academic Campus > Faculty Course Development > Your School > Your Course Development.
When you are in your Course Development area, you should see it highlighted in dark gray on the left and you should also see the title on the top of the page.
- The Course Development area is a space inside eLearning that only you have access to. It is not subject to any section deletions performed by IT Services.
- Click the Create Section button.
- Enter a title for your section. A title is the only thing that needs to be filled in on this screen.
- practice section, prep area for MA 125, etc.
- Click Save at the bottom.

- You should see the newly created section listed.
- Grant yourself Section Instructor/Designer access by clicking the name of the section
- Check the boxes next to Section Instructor and Section Designer roles and click the Enroll into Selected Roles button.
- Enter your username in the Specify a user to enroll box and click Enroll.
- Click OK on the enrollment confirmation message.
- You will have to log out and back into eLearning to be able to access the section. The section should appear in your course list on the My Blackboard home page.
